Plaxico Burress to Be Released From Prison

Plaxico Burress will be released from prison on Monday June 6th after serving a 20 month sentence for carrying an unlicensed gun into the Latin Quarter night club and accidentally shooting himself. Burress, who was instrumental in the New York football Giants improbable upset win in Super Bowl XLII, will most likely land on an NFL team once the NFL labor dispute ends.

Although I believe the St. Louis Rams will make him a lucrative offer, I hope the New York Giants do whatever they can to bring Burress back into the fold. I understand he embarrassed the organization with the shooting and he wasn't a model citizen while on the team, not practicing on a regular basis and arriving late to many team meetings, but the fact is quarterback Eli Manning never had a target at wide receiver as big and long as Burress. When Burress left the team, Manning struggled trying to lead passes to Hakeem Nicks and Mario Manningham.

While Burress returning to the Giants is a long shot, they cannot allow him to go to Philadelphia. The Phillies are already stacked in baseball, let's not make the football team a powerhouse.

Go Blue!
