Reaching for Past glory

I am not sure I like Rick Ross using Biggie's ad-libs on his records....

...Then I find out he has dealings with Puffy. Puff should know better. He went down this road when he signed Shyne cuz he sounded like Big.

...and he is running with Nicki Minaj who is beefing with Lil Kim, with whom he was riding shotgun with on "You Don't Wanna Play Around" telling (Foxy Brown, most likely) "stop trying to sound like her too, bitches", right before he started running around award shows with Foxy Brown at his side when he was trying to get her signed to Bad Boy.

Make up your mind, Puff. I think your loyalty should be to Kim after all the history y'all have, but who am I to tell you what to do?

It's just my thoughts ladies and germs....

Where Are the Femcees?

Shout out to Nicki Minaj for winning her BET Award for Best Female Hip Hop Artist, but where is her competition right now? The ladies of the late nineties (Foxy brown, Eve, Lil' Kim, Trina) are too inconsistent right now. I touced on this topic in the past. Nicki is a breath of fresh air, though. And I do not think of Lil' Kim when I hear her rhyme. Diddy, er, Puffy is really troubling me right now, but that is for another post...

Chris Breezy Breaks down

I did not see Chris Brown's performance at the 2010 BET Awards live, but I did catch the broadcast of the afterparty and heard everyone talking about how Chris tore it down. Just hearing Chris Brown's name and the BET awards in the same sentence was shocking enough seeing that they all but banned him from the building in 2009, days after Michael Jackson died. I have had the pleasure in the past of personally seeing Chris Brown channel Michael Jackson and I was floored at how effortllessly he did Michael's moves, so to have a Michael Jackson tribute last year without Chris did not feel right. I understand why BET could not have Brown perform with wounds from his assault on Rihanna still raw in people's minds.

After seeing a short highlight of Brown's performance I had to find it on YouTube. Everyone is making a big deal about him crying on stage saying he wasn't sincere, he was looking for sympathy, yada yada yada. "Man In the Mirror" is a powerful song in its call for people to look within themselves and make a change for the better before helping others in need. The irony of the song and the significance it has in Brown's own life at this point - ofcourse the guy is going to break down. That does not mean he is looking for sympathy in my opinion.

I am positive he is genuinely sorry he laid hands on Rihanna and he misses Michael Jackson. I haven't seen anyone do Michael's moves spot on like that since a young Alfonso Ribiero (Carlton from Fresh Prince of Bel-Air to the youths) in the 1984 Pepsi commercial. A young guy who studies Michael Jackson like that and incorporates his dances into all performances has a definite love for MJ that would cause a break down such as we saw.

I believe Chris. As I said before "Man In the Mirror" is a powerful song from an otherworldly talented singer/songwriter/performer/humanitarian that tugs on the heartstrings and conscience of people who take their good fortune (not only monetary, but health as well) for granted. I think it is time to forgive this young man for his horrible lapse in judgement. While I do not condone his actions in the slightest bit, he has plead guilty, he is serving his time with community service, and he has been blackballed in the music industry. Bravo to BET for giving Brown the cathartic experience of paying tribute to his idol. After criticizing last year's tribute and funeral from the peanut gallery, Chris got his chance to do his thing where he is most comfortable... the stage. Sound familiar?

LeBron's Mom goes West?

I really, really, really hope this nasty rumor about LeBron James' mom and teammate Delonte West doing the nasty behind LeBron's back is untrue. What a violation of trust. The drastic change in LeBron's game from game 4 of the series with the Celtics on was obvious. But silly Jamiyl thought after Rajan Rondo carved them up he started to have a feeling of de ja vu from the year before believing for the second year in a row his team wasn't good enough to help him get over the hump.

I guess allegedly walking in on your mother in bed with your teammate could make you lose concentration on the basketball court. Why would you want to play at all? Who could you trust at that point?

Unreal. He is not coming back to Cleveland. I would be stunned if he returned there. Sure he had good memories for 7 years, but your last days there are filled with criticism of your playing style and allegations that you quit on the team, when you are possibly thinking about your mother getting it on with one of your teammates. Ugly.

I don't necessarily think he is coming to my Knicks, but I think the Knicks have a better chance of getting him than him going back to Cleveland at this point.

He's good, man. I mean he had to play in the game. I would have demanded that West get benched for the whole game, or play only when I'm on the bench. Sucka.

Just my thoughts ladies and gents....

Mocking Malia

So I saw the despicable footage of this guy Beck (do not want to glorify him by using his full name) on Fox News channel mocking President Obama's daughter asking if the gaping hole where the oil is leaking in the BP disaster is closed. You can't even get mad anymore at these pundits because they are such hypocrites. This Beck guy is the same person who told his viewers to lay off the Bush family, his daughters (caught up in some scandals in their day) were off limits. Now he is, making fun of a pre-teen generally concerned about a mess that President Obama did not cause, asking her dad a simple question and this moron does something like this, on-air no less.

He and Limbaugh, modern day KKK. It is absolutely fasciniating that these clowns still exist in a world where a Black man can be elected President of the free world. When their guy Bush, er, Cheney was masterminding the September 11th attacks killing almost 3,000 people, starting a war on a lie (stating Saddam Hussein was a terrorist, pretty much), these guys were on their soap box defending these actions. These guys thought Sarah Palin would make a great Vice president.

I'm done...
